Mod Podge Necklace

I am loving the new necklace I made yesterday! :)

First I gathered my supplies and found some images that I liked online and printed them off on my color printer.

I used a clear round stone that you can get in the gardening section of JoAnns.  These are the same ones you might use to make a magnet.  I have seen on Etsy where people sell better quality square tiles for this purpose.  Find the clearest stone and match up to the images you have.  Carefully cut out your image and then Mod Podge to the back.  After waiting for it to dry I then used Mod Podge Dimensional Glaze to give it a nice professional looking seal.  I used E6000 to glue on my jewelry bail.  All done!

My FNSI Results

Finally getting a chance to post my results for last nights Friday Night Sew-In. Today has been crazy busy, in a good way. DH and me went to the movies and late lunch today, took my son driving for 2 hours (he is 15 and has his permit), spent sometime at JoAnns and even did some cleaning around the house. :)

So last night I decided to practice, practice, practice. I am a newbie to sewing and quilting and need to practice on accuracy and what really does 1/4 inch look like when sewing on my machine. I have a 2.5 inch strip jelly roll that I decided would be my victim perfect for half square triangles. So I got to town ironing the strips and then using my Fons and Porter half square trinagle cut out the triangles. I then chained pieced the half square triangles together. I did press the seams and then decided to open the seams to both side.

Here is some of my work in progress.

Friday Night Sew-In

Virtual Friday Night Sew-In is tonight! What a great way to start the weekend and unwind from all the crazy tax stuff at work. :) If you are interested in participating go here to sign-up.

Handmade by Heidi

I will be catching up on my House Block of the Months tonight. I am a few months behind and did get a little intimidated by one of the blocks so I kind of put it off. Pamela, The Casual Quilter, is also doing this BOM series. You have to see how hers is progressing, I love the fabric she is using, check it out here. If you don't already follow her you should!

I did finally finish row 2 of the Jewel Row Robin quilt last night. Mailing it today and it is a good thing because today is the deadline! I could have had it done a week ago but I ended up making 2 of the blocks over again. I am learning alot in this process.

Comment below if you are going to do the Friday Night Sew-In, I can't wait to see what everyone did on Saturday.

Row Robin 2nd row

I have been working on the second row of another person's quilt since March.  There theme is "Jewels".  I will be mailing what I have done on Monday.

Here is a look at the first starter row.

Here is what I have done. (5 blocks)

1 Friendship Circle Block

2 Green toned Arrow Mosaic Blocks

2 Red toned Arrow Mosaic Blocks

I was telling the other ladies in my group that I still have a lot to learn.  Not to mentione years of practice ahead of me. :)  I learned that I can't seem to cut accurate measurements for the life of me and I am horrible at sewing a 1/4" seam.  I need to mail this on by Monday but have decided that I am going to redo one of the green blocks this weekend.  The block is just coming up to short and I can't make it work.  Luckly I have some fabric leftover.

By the end of 2011 I will be an expert at seam ripping and hopefully better at everything else. :)

I do love this fabric though!!!!
