So excited that at the last minute I have decided to make the trip to Des Moines, IA for AQS Quilt Week!!!! I will drive up Friday after work, with my daughter, and go to the show on Saturday.
I was originally thinking of taking a Free Motion Quilting class Saturday but since my daughter is going to be able to go with me I will pass on the class. With over 1600 Quilts on display there should be plenty to do!
I have never been to a Quilt Show so pretty excited to be finally be going. I live in Kansas City, MO so from what I have heard the drive to Des Moines, IA is a pretty easy drive and only around 3.5 hours.
My daughter is 16 and a Junior in High School. She is taking a Fashion/Sewing class this year and we were at JoAnn getting fabric and notions for her next project and I walked by this fabric and couldn't pass it up. I see a fun quilt beading project in the future for this.
My journey to everything Homemade! I love to quilt, sew, crochet and knit. I look forward to sharing my projects, good and bad, with you.

Friday Night Sew In
Last night was FNSI. We have a different person hosting it for the next 3 months. Big Thanks to Sugarlane Quilts! Head over there and check out all the participants.
I have shared how I how I do my hexagons but thought I would share again since
this is what I did last night. :)
More hexis!
I start with a 2.5 x 2.5 inch square.
On the wrong side I center my 1 inch paper hexagon.
(each side of the hexagon is 1 inch)
I fold and baste the paper template in place.
I do chain about 3 together at a time.

The Quilt Show
I just saw this updated on Bejeweled Quilts by Barb and wanted to share with everyone!
The Quilt show is opening up their website beginning Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 17, and there will be terrific prizes from companies we know and love like Bernina, GAmmill, Superior Threads, AccuQuilt, C&T Publishing, RJR Fabric. Ricky and Alex will have gift baskets to give away too. The grand prize is a new BErnina 550QE sewing machine! You get free access to over 140 shows.Marking my calendar now!!!!
Why are they doing this? As most of you know it is National Quilt Day March 16th and this is their way of helping us celebrate.
If you are not familiar with The Quilt Show, maybe you should take a gander over there. You will find all kinds of fun projects and tons of videos by Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. Just sit your computer next to your sewing machine and take advantage of the videos while you sew. Can't think of a better way to celebrate than that!! Prizes too!!
